The discovery

Infra red

All materials, which have higher temperature than the surroundings, emit electromagnetic radiation. Absolute black body is the material which has maximal radiation. Common materials, grey bodies, radiate much less compared to it. However, sometimes a material, in some parts of electromagnetic radiation range, radiates more energy than a black body with the same temperature. Naturally, within the whole electromagnetic range, it emits less radiation than a black body! It happens because some frequencies are converted into other frequencies, and this is how increased radiation occurs at such places, to the loss of other frequencies. This process is called photoluminescence. (A well-known example of it is the luminous paint in clubs, which converts the light coming from ultraviolet range into visible light.)

The active substance, „Yule®”, which is our own product, is an artificially produced black ceramic powder with infrared radiation, and has such quality. However, this material, within some parts of infrared range - at the end of the mid-infrared range and at the beginning of the far-infrared range (between wavenumbers 1000-150 cm-1) - radiates stronger, even at human body temperature! This range is important as it is the biologically beneficial part of infrared radiation: it stimulates circulation and is beneficial to the skin. Our Poweros® product, which is impregnated with the black Yule® powder, has the above stated beneficial qualities too.

Spectral distribution of electromagnetic radiation in infrared spectrum, emitted by different condoms and by a black body at 50°C. (In the graph, the spectra cut down under wavenumber 350 cm-1, as the optical elements of the used spectrometer do not let infrared light through under such wavenumber.)

(Electromagnetic radiation - such as visible light - is characterized by frequency, wavelength or wavenumber. The wavenumber is directly proportional to the frequency, while the wavelength is inversely proportional to the frequency. The energy of the radiation is not evenly distributed per each wave number. In the graph, the energy per wavenumber - the so called energy density - is shown in function to the wavenumber. This is called spectral distribution.)

In the graph, you can see spectral distribution of the electromagnetic radiation of materials heated to 50°C in infrared spectrum: of a Black Body, a commercially available condom, and of a Poweros® condom, developed by our company, which is impregnated with the Yule® black powder.

Obviously, the black body used by us is not the absolute black body, but approaches it well. In the graph, you can see well that the spectrum of Poweros® is much closer to that of black body, compared to the commercially available condom. The Poweros® product “lights” much better than the commercial product. As the commercial product can be considered as the basis, the black body as maximal energy emitter, the Poweros® product, in comparison to them, emits infrared radiation twice more efficiently than the commercial product.
